Like most of the country, the OOLA team has adjusted to working from home over the past three weeks. Our levels of sanity have varied, as have our coping mechanisms. We have looked to our writers and audience for inspiration on everything from how to entertain ourselves, what-to-watch, and even zoom-call wardrobe tips. This week, the realization we might be sheltering in place for a while has become a reality, so we wanted to share with our readers how team OOLA is adjusting to life at home.
Since we began an exclusive relationship with our couch the past three weeks, movie and TV suggestions have been premium. We are a house divided on the show du jour, Netflix’s Tiger King, but are all enjoying diving into old favorites and retro classics. Read on to see what Team OOLA is loving right now.

What We’re Watching
Erika: I just committed to watching the Sopranos on HBO. My husband has been trying to get me to watch it for a while and it just seemed like a big commitment, but now we have plenty of time! It’s supposedly one of the best shows to ever hit TV, so we will see!
I am also rewatching Parks and Rec on Netflix because it’s hilarious and I need Andy Dwyer humor in my life right now.
Ellen: If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, then Netflix’s The Last Kingdom is a MUST WATCH! This has been one of my all time favorite binge-watch shows; action, love, adventure, and a seriously hot leading man. What more could a quarantined gal ask for?
Nicole: TIGER KING! Holy WTF. This Netflix docuseries is a train wreck, you don’t want to look, but you can’t stop watching. It’s been easy to binge this show, and I’ve definitely stayed up way too late with Joe Exotic this week.
I’d be lying if I didn’t mention Frozen 2 and Onward on Disney+. My 5 and 2-year-old have loved watching both of these multiple times– thank goodness.
Allison: We jumped on the Tiger King bandwagon and it DID NOT disappoint. Just when you thought they couldn’t possibly cram in another WTF moment, they reveal more absolutely absurd plot twists. In this time of so much worldwide craziness, it was oddly comforting knowing these kind of stories actually happen. Tiger King wasn’t the hero we asked for, but it was the one we needed.
We also finally watched the OJ Simpson documentary on Netflix. It was interesting seeing the behind-the-scenes reenactments, but I had a tough time handling “Ross Geller” as “Robert Kardashian”. I’d give it a solid 6/10.
Laura: The Outsider on HBO: Love me some Jason Bateman. Interesting show based on a Stephen King novel with a black female lead.
Willow on Disney+: Right now I’m into watching movies I was too young for back in the day. Willow came out in 1988 when I was only four years old, so I totally missed this Oscar nominated children’s film. It stars Val Kilmer in his prime; was directed by none other than Ron Howard; and George Lucas wrote the story. I have no idea how I’d never heard of it, but now apparently it’s going to be a Disney+ series.
Sydney: Star Wars on Disney+ (all of them), Brooklyn 99 on Hulu, Parks and Rec on Netflix, to name just a few. They’re all just my faves.
