Still contemplating on what you want to be for Halloween this year? Here are 16 ideas to get the creative juices flowing:
1. Smarty Pants Costume
Pretty straight forward. For this witty costume, simply buy a pack of Smarties candies and attach them all over a pair of pants. You can also choose to glue both sides of each individual piece of candy and attach them to the pants of your choice. Throw on a pair of your biggest, dorkiest glasses and your costume won’t soon disappoint.
2. Minion Costume
While this example is from the trusty Walmart website, a simple pair of denim overalls with a yellow shirt, big round glasses (real or fake), and perhaps a yellow beanie will instantly transform you into one of the many minions from Despicable Me. Don’t forget to carry around a nice banana. Everyone knows it’s a minion’s favorite snack!
3. Barbie and Ken Costumes
You’ll definitely impress your coworkers by dressing as this iconic duo! Fellas, if you want to dress as Ken, simply find your preppiest pair of shorts, a wacky button down t-shirt, a fun-colored bandana to wrap around your neck, and boat shoes. For the ladies, browse Amazon for a fun leotard outfit, a pink and white dress, or just anything that screams “I’m a Barbie girl!” If you haven’t seen Barbie, one the top movies of the year, we suggest you hop on it. Pronto!
4. “Bread Winner” Costume
You make things happen. To become a real “breadwinner” just go to the costume party carrying a couple loaves of bread and medals. It’s a simple, yet “punny” costume idea that will definitely be all the buzz at the party.
5. Where’s Waldo Costume
Who can forget this iconic character from our childhood? See how long it takes people to find you by wearing your favorite pair of jeans with a red and white striped shirt. Don’t forget your red and white hat to really look the part!
6. Steve Urkel Costume
Did I do that? Kick it old school by showing up as this beloved character from iconic sitcom Family Matters. To pull off this goofy look, all you need are a pair of high waister jeans, a pair of suspenders, a button down flannel and a pair of loafers. Find a pair of glasses with the biggest frames on earth and you’re golden.
7. A Friendly Little Scarecrow Costume
This costume is a no-brainer, but there’s no need to call the Wizard of Oz. Just find a nice pair of denim overalls, a plaid button down shirt, and a straw hat. For an extra boost of creativity, find some straw and have it peaking out of your sleeves and hat. Use eyeliner to meticulously draw the “stitches” for your face. Ta-da!
8. Error Not Found Costume
This is as simple as it gets. You can purchase the shirt here, or cut out the letters using felt and attach them to a shirt yourself. Your coworkers may not be all that impressed, but at least you will get participation points.
9. Brawny Man Halloween Costume
Flannel? Check. Jeans? Check. Paper towels for truly tough messes? Check! Now you’re ready for the costume party!
10. “The Price Is Right” Contestant Costume
In honor of Bob Barker, beloved “Price Is Right” host, why not dress up as one of the many contestants that have one big from the show. Simply dress casual and use a yellow piece of construction paper to cut out a name tag. Write your name and attach the piece of paper to your shirt and come on down! You coworkers will hope they’re the next contestant!
11. Mr. Rogers Costume
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Why not light up the costume party by dressing up as everyone’s favorite neighbor, Mr. Rogers?! Khaki pants, a red cardigan with a white button down underneath, a tie, and a million dollar smile is all you need.
12. Sugar Mama Costume
Come give mama some sugar, baby! To pull this silly costume idea off, all you need is a baby carrier, and a bag of sugar. It doesn’t get any sweeter than this!
13. Greek God/ Goddess Costume

15. Beanie Baby Costume
Who can forget these cute little stuffed animals. I think I had at least 20 of these things growing up. Get an oversized t-shirt that’s the color of the animal you want to be, and use either your hair or find a rocking head band that has the ears of your animal of choice. You can be a fox and get a fluffy tail, a deer with antlers, or even a lion with big messy hair. The possibilities are endless.
16. Social Butterfly Costume
Be the talk of the costume party with this simple and punny social butterfly costume! Wear your normal clothes and stick images of the logo all around your shirt and pants. Add a pair of butterfly/ fairy wings to your look and you will instantly look the part.
