Additional Methods
Different Meats
Ground beef has been the go-to meat for meatloaf, but there are other meats you can use. Switch things up by making a meatloaf from ground turkey, veal, or chicken, or leaner versions of your favorite meats.
Your Favourite Spices
The above spices are the ones we like the best, but you can include whichever seasoning you like. Some home chefs like things a little spicier while others prefer to keep things simple and mild. A few additional spices and ingredients to try are:
- celery
- peppers
- tomato
- paprika
- chili powder
Best Pairings
Your crockpot meatloaf will go well with just about any side dish you like. Serve with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, sautéed mushrooms, or a salad of your choice.
Aside from what foods you stick beside it, you can also slather your meatloaf in a variety of sauces. Ketchup works well, but your crockpot meatloaf will taste amazing with a sauce made from Worcestershire sauce and a splash of hot sauce. Various glazes like those made from brown sugar or honey also alter the flavor of your meatloaf in a good way.
Crockpot meatloaf is a more relaxing way to make the traditional dish. As opposed to keeping an eye on things in the oven, you can just stick your ingredients in the crockpot and return a few hours later. Gift yourself some comfort food and downtime with this recipe your kitchen really can’t do without.
