Easy Delicious No Bake Cookies
Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2/3 cup peanut butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups oats
Supplies
- two baking sheets
- parchment paper
- tablespoon
Directions
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium saucepan, add your sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa powder; bring to a rolling boil over medium heat and stir occasionally.
Leave the mixture to boil for 60 seconds (set a timer).
After the allotted time, remove from heat.
Stir in the peanut butter, vanilla extract, and oats.
With a tablespoon, scoop spoonfuls of dough onto the cookie sheets.
Leave them for about 25-30 minutes or until completely cool. Alternatively, you can refrigerate them for about 25 minutes to get them cool as well.
The Importance Of Time
Every baker knows the importance of watching the clock. It doesn’t really matter what you’re making, dinners and baked goods need our attention. While this recipe shaves baking time off your schedule, there is one catch. Be mindful not to over or under boil the mixture when it’s on the stove. Under-boiling them will result in a runny mixture you can’t use and over-boiling causes brittle cookies.
Speaking of time, you’ll want to be sure you have at least half an hour to spare. These cookies don’t require any baking, but they still need time to cool completely.
Additional Methods
A foolproof way to lower the fat on these cookies is to go for the low-fat ingredients in store. Unsalted butter, reduced sugar peanut butter, and zero fat milk seriously helps keep those calories in check. It’s also a great way to cut the fat during holiday time when sugary snacks seem to call our names.
Lavish Land Of Garnishes
Of course, we can’t all control our willpower and there’s no harm in indulging now and again! Dust your no-bake cookies with confectioners sugar or sprinkles and you’ll have a sweet treat everyone will flock to. To be particularly adventurous, you can add around one cup of mini M&M candies in with the vanilla and peanut butter.
You can also try adding some chocolate chips or nuts into the batter to change up the flavor. Mix about half a cup in with the vanilla and peanut butter and you’re all set.
These no-bake cookies are perfect for any time during the year. Birthdays, Christmas, potlucks, the possibilities are endless. With just half an hour to finish them, you can easily squeeze this recipe into your busy life and you’ll be all the better for it.
