We used to pace with excitement as kids for the thrill of Halloween and trick-or-treating, but now there’s a zero percent chance someone is going to give an adult free candy. Just because it’s a little creepy to knock on strangers’ doors at our age doesn’t mean we can’t bring the party to us! Enter the jello shot.
Candy corn jello shots are your one-way ticket to a good time this Halloween. These fun little drinks require a few more ingredients and time than your typical drinks since you’ll need to make a few flavors of jello, but the payoff will be worth it. It’s also worth noting that if you’ve never made jello shots before, you would do best to make these ahead of time since it will take several hours for the jello to set, especially when you’re working with more than one layer.
How To Make Candy Corn Jello Shots
What You’ll Need
- 1 small box (10 g) of orange Jell-O
- 1 small box (10 g) of lemon Jell-O
- 1 packet of Knox unflavored gelatin
- 3 cups of vanilla vodka
- 7 oz of sweetened condensed milk
- 3 cups of boiling water
- Tall shot glasses
Steps
The goal is to create an alcoholic jello shot that looks like candy corn, with three different equally sized layers in this order: Yellow, Orange, White.
- Pour 1 cup of boiling water into a bowl and add the lemon Jell-O mix. Stir everything thoroughly or until the gelatin dissolves.
- Add 1 cup of the vanilla vodka to the bowl and stir thoroughly.
- Fill your shot glass only 1/3 of the way with the lemon jello and stick in the fridge until everything sets (about 3-4 hours).
- Pour 1 cup of boiling water into a bowl and add the orange Jell-O mix. Stir everything thoroughly or until the gelatin dissolves.
- Add 1 cup of the vanilla vodka to the bowl and stir thoroughly.
- Once the lemon layer is fully set, retrieve it from the fridge and pour the orange jello on top. Only add another 1/3 of the mixture to the glass so you have space remaining for the top layer.
- Place the shot glasses back in the fridge and refrigerate until everything is set (about 3-4 hours).
- For the final layer, add your condensed milk and the remaining cup of vanilla vodka into a bowl. Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the top of the milk and vodka but don’t stir for one minute.
- After the minute has passed, add 1 cup of boiling water over top the mixture and stir until the thoroughly or until the gelatin has dissolved.
- Once the lemon and orange layers are set, pull them from the fridge and add the white layer on top, filling the rest of the shot glass.
- Place back in the fridge and leave to set (about 3-4 hours) before enjoying.
Additional Ingredients
These jello shots will be sweet enough on their own but, as anyone will tell you, indulging in sweet things is what Halloween is all about. You can garnish your candy corn jello shots with colored sprinkles or even whipped cream if you so choose.
You can also switch up the kinds of vodka or booze you use. Not everyone likes the taste of vanilla so you can swap it out for cake, coconut, or pineapple-flavored vodka. There are also recipes online to make your own candy corn-infused vodka with only two ingredients. Remember that you can skip the vodka altogether if you’d prefer your drinks be alcohol-free.
A candy corn jello shot is easily one of the best things you can make this Halloween as an adult. They’re super simple to make and don’t require a ton of time. Once you nail down the layering all that’s left to do is garnish them however you like and indulge with your friends this October.
