Hasselback potatoes are an impressive addition to any table. These special spuds have the crispy edges of a French fry with the melt-in-your-mouth inner texture of a baked potato. And with the healthy sweet potato substitution, they’re a win-win-win! Check out our go-to recipe plus some drool-worthy variations below.
What You’ll Need
- chopsticks or wooden spoons
- Chef’s knife
- cutting board
- measuring cups
- small bowl
- whisk
- fruit & veggie wash or spray
- aluminum foil
- baking sheet
Ingredients
- 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes
- salt and pepper
- 1 clove of garlic
- ½ tbsp olive oil
- ½ tbsp butter, unsalted and melted
Instructions
Step 1: Potato Rinse
Gently rinse the potatoes fruit & veggie wash (we recommend Rebel Green Fruit & Veggie Clean, available at Target, Walmart, and local health food stores). Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Step #2: Prepare The Sauce
Whisk together the butter, olive oil, salt and pepper, and garlic in a small bowl until evenly combined.
Step #3: Slice Potatoes
Place potato between chopsticks or wooden spoons. Carefully cut 1/8 inch slices, about ¾ of the way through the potato. The chopsticks will keep you from slicing all the way through. Repeat with the other potato.
Step #4: Bake Time
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, then place potatoes on sheet. Pour butter mixture over sweet potatoes, and bake for about 45 minutes.
Step #5: Serve It Up
Carefully remove from oven, season with more salt and pepper, and enjoy!
