A woman in Hawaii was out for a walk when she stumbled upon what might be a world record — an avocado weighing in at 5 pounds, 3.68 ounces.
Pamela Wang, a resident of Kealakekua, Hawaii, was astounded by the size of the fruit.
“I see avocados every day and I pick up avocados every day, but this one… it was hard to miss,” Wang told West Hawaii Today. “It was as big as my head.”
Wang and her friends started looking into what the record was for the largest avocado. They found that the Guinness Book of World Records recorded the largest avocado reported was submitted in 2009 from Venezuela and weighed 4 pounds, 13.2 ounces. If Wang’s avocado is verified by Guinness, it would claim the throne of world’s largest avocado. Now, it’s just a waiting game.
