Trends are a mainstay in the diet industry. There always seems to be some new and often pretty ridiculous way to lose weight. So, you could imagine our skepticism when we caught wind of the somewhat strange collaboration between Sugarfina and Pressed Juicery.
For those of you not in the know, Sugarfina is the gourmet candy boutique founded by the two love birds Rosie O’Neill and Josh Resnick. As the story goes, the couple fell in love while traveling around the globe, enjoying a plethora of candies as the opportunities presented themselves. When you travel the world with your true love, you tend to get inspired, so the two teamed up and set out to create the candy store they’ve always dreamed of. (Hint, you may have heard of their uber-popular Champagne Gummy Bears, made with real Dom Pérignon and Rosé).
Pressed Juicery, on the other hand, is just about the biggest contrast you can have from a candy boutique. Founded in the Summer of 2010 by three friends, Pressed Juicery was created with one goal in mind: “To bring delicious, premium and nutritious juice to everyone.” Each of the three founders was on their own personal health journey, but the one commonality they all shared was juice. They had all seen the positive impacts cold-pressed juices and juice cleansing can bring to oneself, and they wanted to share it with everyone else.
So, how the heck did these two companies get together and create the first-ever “Green Juice” Gummy Bears? A joke, of course. No seriously, Sugarfina actually announced the “Green Juice’ Gummy Bears as an April Fool’s joke in 2016, but an overwhelmingly positive response and high demand from green-juicers and candy aficionados alike meant this was no joke — these gummy bears had to be made. So, Sugarfina got serious, called up their L.A. based neighbor and got to work.
“We loved the idea of gummy bears inspired by the juice trend, but we had no idea it would be so in demand,” remarked Rosie O’Neilll and Josh Resnick on how the idea spawned. “We called up…Pressed Juicery and had a ton of fun collaborating with them on the recipe.”
Gathering inspiration from Pressed Juicery’s green juice offerings, each gummy bear is made with a blend of lemon, apple, spinach and ginger concentrate. Further, not only is each gummy bear made with no artificial colors or flavors, they’re also fat-free, contain no GMO’s, and contain 20% of your daily intake of vitamin A and C. Simply put, they’re the real deal.
Needless to say, juice cleanses have huge momentum right now amongst health and wellness junkies. Everyone loves efficiency, and what could be more efficient than eating gummy bears? Gone are the days of going to the Farmer’s Market, buying fresh fruits and vegetables, chopping, juicing, drinking, and repeating. Now all you have to do is order some gummy bears online! That is if you can get your hands on them. Their gummy bears tend to sell-out in record time.
The gummies are packaged in three sizes, including the $3 Baby Bears Shot, the $6.50 Half Bottle, and the $14 large bottle. There’s also a 7-Day Gummy Bear Cleanse kit which runs $23.00, which is pretty cheap for a fun and easy way to engage in a week-long cleanse.
Here’s to hoping Sugarfina’s April Fool’s joke next year spawns an equally creative and awesome healthy candy fusion!
