Making cocktails can be very artistic –and tedious. How much of this or that do I add? Should I shake or stir? Why are there so many steps? When it comes to the holidays or even just having friends over for dinner, it is tempting to awe your visitors with refreshments. However, this desire is often overshadowed by time constraints, ridiculous recipes, and complex ingredients. What if you could make expert tasting drinks for your occasion (mocktail, if preferred) without any of these hurdles?
Mirth takes the complexity out of mixology for your occasions. The new seltzer brand is the best sparkling water for mixing drinks, or even just to drink on their own. With three unique flavor combinations, there are endless possibilities for easy cocktails and mocktails for your guests. Even better, I have a code for you to get 20% off your whole order so you can have Mirth at your next get-together. Use OOLA20 at checkout, no minimum purchase necessary. Plus, I have some simple recipes so you don’t have to worry about what to pair with these flavors. One note before we jump in, all of these drinks can be made without special tools for bartending. If you have them, of course, use them if you want!
Our first flavor combination is Ginger-Lemongrass. Ginger is a common flavor and most either love it or hate it, but lemongrass is unfamiliar territory for a lot of people. Where the former adds a flair, the latter brings airy citrus to your tongue.
My friends and I all agreed the sparkling water had a full flavor, stronger than your average seltzer. However the slight sweetness really made it lovely. These flavors add up to a seltzer that can more than hold up on its own at a party, but here is a mixed drink recipe to make it the star of the show.
Kicked By The Mule
- -1.5 oz vodka
- -.25 oz lime juice
- -fill to the top with Mirth
- -optional: garnish with a lime twist
The second exceptional flavor duo is Grapefruit-Juniper. It wasn’t hard to come up with ideas for this sparkling water. The flavors are bright citrus paired with subtle fruity, yet woodsy tastes. So it was obvious as I settled on two drinks: a cocktail and a mocktail.
When I tried the sparkling water on it’s own I knew it would be my favorite. It was more delicate than any other grapefruit bubbles I’ve ever had and the juniper was the icing on the cake. The recipes below showcase the refreshing, gentle, yet sophisticated tastes of this second Mirth flavor.
Forest Breeze
- -1.5 oz gin
- -.5 oz cranberry juice
- -fill to top with Mirth
- -optional: garnish with a lime wedge
Winter Bloom
- -1.5 oz pomegranate juice
- -.5 oz elderflower syrup
- -fill to top with Mirth
- -splash of lime
Our third and final flavor pair is definitely the most intriguing of them all: Mint-Chocolate. Now, this was a challenge I was way too excited to tackle. How can fresh, light mint get bottled into a can? And how can a seltzer do chocolate any justice? Well, it has been done, and it’s worth the try. When I tell you I was a bit nervous when I took that first sip, I was preparing for the worst.
I was shocked! Suddenly I felt like I was having a chocolate mint treat. It was delightful and definitely my second favorite of the bunch. Don’t let this recipe stop you from enjoying this seltzer on its own, but if you’re up for an adventure, this one is as easy as they come. One of my reviewers said, “This drink reminds me of the smell of specialty coffee shops. The chocolate creates this smoothness between the light mint and bold coffee. It is more than gratifying.”
Stirred NOT Shaken
- -1.5 oz vanilla vodka
- -1 oz of cold brew
- -fill to top with Mirth
- optional: garnish with a mint leaf
