So yes, I workout a good bit but not in an annoying way. It’s not a personality trait. I enjoy lifting and feeling myself getting stronger or being able to run longer, but I also enjoy margaritas and eating ice cream as I binge New Girl. It’s all about balance. But what I do not enjoy is uncomfortable and non-functional clothing, especially when it comes to workout apparel. I’m looking at you, shorts that get gobbled up by thighs. Nothing irks me more than having to adjust my shorts in between sets or during a run. And don’t even get me started on chafing.
I found these bike-style shorts while perusing Amazon and despite the high number of good reviews, I wasn’t super optimistic since I had been burned by inadequate shorts in the past. But they were so inexpensive, I had to give them a try. I now own four pairs of these shorts.
Oalka Women’s Workout Shorts
The Things I Love About The Oalka Workout Shorts
- They are long enough to protect against any chafing, but are short enough to still be cute
- POCKETS! On both sides, and they are big.
- Super high waisted. I have a very high belly button so I am super picky about high waisted things since they rarely cover my belly button, but these do AND they stay high waisted. No waistband rolling here!
- Squat-proof thickness. Full disclosure, I have not tried the white color, but I do have the Light Brown and Lavender Mist colors and they both offer full coverage.
- They stay in place. Even during squats or a long run, the shorts do not ride up.
The Things I Don’t Love About the Oalka Workout Shorts
- I wish they had neon colors, or a better selection of brighter colors. They do offer 35 color options, but this is me being picky.
I am not the only person who is obsessed with these shorts. The reviews are filled with shocked and happy customers.
“These women’s shorts by Oalka are amazing. I love them. I’ll start by saying I am about 5′ 3.. I weigh in at 120 to 126 regularly. I typically wear small clothing. I ordered 3 small shorts from this company (at separate times). Black, Dark Navy, Burgundy. I would order all the colors if I could.
First received the black pair, it was for a girls trip. I wore it under a dress, into a club, so that I could have pockets. I was beyond comfortable, my butt looked great wearing them under my dress and I danced all night. 2nd, I wore them on a 6 mile bike-ride. No panty-peeking, no slippage, no adjusting, pure comfort. 3rd, I wore them on a wine walk with cute black shoes. Perfect. I washed and dried them likely 10 times by now. They are still perfect. I fully recommend these functional black shorts with no reservations.” – Kel_kellu
“I am 4’11” and about 140lbs. My measurements are 38-34-43. I am pear shaped and carry my excess weight in my belly, hips, and thighs. I purchased a size Large in the A-style.
I bought these shorts to wear jogging. I have thunder thighs, so regular running shorts cause a LOT of chafing. In the summer, it’s just too hot to run in capris, even early in the morning.
These shorts are fantastic. I experienced ZERO chafing on a two mile run this morning. I also didn’t have to stop and adjust them at all, which is amazing. I was expecting them to potentially roll up at the thighs, since I have big ones. I’m not sure if they would stay in place for a more vigorous workout, but they are great for jogging and comfortable enough to wear around the house. I’m probably going to buy a few more pairs in other colors.” – Rachel
Even if fitness isn’t your thing, I still recommend the Oalka Shorts. They make for such a cute, casual outfit with a cropped tank, oversized tee or sweatshirt. They are my wardrobe staple when I want to be comfortable, but still want to look put together, like for running errands, grabbing brunch, or hanging out at a brewery.
